Molly Wright recently moved to the Carlotte, North Carolina area from Savannah, Georgia. She is an East Coaster, having lived in Connecticut and Virginia as well. A painter all of her life, she received a BA, majoring in fine art, from Randolph Macon Women’s College.
After years of working in oils, Molly switched over to acrylic in 2014. Working quickly, she enjoys the short drying time that acrylic paints offer.
Molly’s newer works are expressionistic and impressionistic ~ utilizing color as a tool as much as her brush. She achieves distinction with her bright, happy palette and a loose painterly style that allows for the viewers own interpretation to be part of the piece.
In Molly’s words, “Art is emotional for the artist as well as the viewer. It can change the lives of both parties. I love being a part of that.”
“The evolution of my work is in my ability to get out of my own way.”
At this time, Molly shows from her home studio as well as exhibiting in numerous solo and group shows up and down the East coast. You can find her work for sale at Christenberry Collection in Columbia, SC, and Art House Charlotte in Charlotte, NC. She is also represented by Bozutto and Greene Art in Baltimore, Maryland, Tyler White O'Brien Gallery in Greensboro, NC., Gallery Vibe in Naplese, FL, Stellers Gallery in Jacksonville, FL, and Nadia Waterfield Fine Art in Hampshire, U.K. Molly’s work is in many private as well as commercial collections including Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Va and Elon University. Her oil painting, “Lose Yourself In Books” was chosen as the 2012 Savannah Book Festival signature image. Prints of Molly's work have been available through Pottery Barn, HomeGoods and Ballard Designs.
In 2012 Molly started Quintessential Fine Art Fabrics. Quality fabrics designed from her original paintings are beautifully handmade into one of a kind or limited edition items, including neckties, scarves and make up bags. These items are available exclusively through shows.
